Hi, I'm Elise, founder and photographer at Floragraphica.

This blurb is pretty long - probably longer than any about blurb should be, so apologies in advance!

Floragraphica started as a passion project for me.  While I was working as a naturopath I had a burning desire to make a beautiful book on flowering herbal medicines (I’m still working on it!).  That led me to studying photography so that I could take my own images of the herbs, which led into friends and family asking to buy my images, which led into friends giving 'me' as a gift to shoot bouquets for brides.

Now I shoot bouquets all year round, covering Sydney and surrounding suburbs, and I also shoot flowers of my own choosing to make artworks to sell nationally and internationally. I sell through this site, through various retail and online outlets and through Saatchi Art.

I have been part of exhibitions at Hazelhurst Art Centre (In Our Nature), at Creative Frames (Buds to Beaches), Fine Print Co (Elise Catterall), and at The Other Art Fair, Sydney.

Floragraphica takes up most of my time (other than my kids!), but I also do a fair bit of freelance photography and writing. I draw on my studies and qualifications (Master of Public Health, Bachelor of Health Science) for much of my writing, but I also write about environmental issues and have been a contributor (words and pictures) for Planet Ark for nearly 3 years. I write a fortnightly column for Planet Ark called Everyday Enviro.

My greatest wish is that Floragraphica can be a vehicle to celebrate and appreciate nature, because it needs to be celebrated and cherished now more than ever.

Sustainability statement

It is important to me that my business (and life, generally) as sustainable as possible, so for Floragraphica, I use local, ethical suppliers and makers, a sustainable energy supplier, and offset carbon emissions through Greenfleet.
